As part of the Kaki Bike Tour 2024, we were visited by representatives of the Kaki Tree project from Brescia. The meeting was an opportunity for international networking and deepening cooperation between different projects promoting the importance of peace and sustainability. The delegation consisted of the project’s president Francesco Foletti, six cyclists and three accompanying persons, plus Elisabetta Tofful, a representative of the Pax Christi association from neighbouring Gorizia.
We met in front of the town hall in Gorizia, from where we crossed the border together – on foot and on bicycles – and visited stream Koren and the X-Center. At the X-Centre we were welcomed by the European Capital of Culture representative, Katja Fak.
The hike and cycle route were expertly guided by Marco Acri and Dr Saša Dobričič, who work on the Green Points project. After the route, a banquet was organised for all participants, including representatives of the European Capital of Culture and invited media, 15 people in total. The event was a great opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and promote projects that emphasise the symbolism of the khaki tree as a bridge for peace and international cooperation.
