On Tuesday, October 8th, students from the Grgar Branch Primary School (POŠ Grgar) and Fran Erjavec Primary School visited the “We Are Here” exhibition by students of the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica, currently on display for the first time at the Nova Gorica City Gallery, as part of their cultural day activities.
The “We Are Here” exhibition is being shown this year for the first time at the Nova Gorica City Gallery, presenting a broad selection of student works from recent years – from photography to installations and set designs for animated films. It offers a diverse insight into student creativity, engaging even the youngest visitors and creating a space for dialogue between art and the child’s perspective.
The visit took place during Children’s Week, which begins every year on the first Monday in October and continues through Sunday of the same week. During this time, primary schools and youth organizations often collaborate with cultural institutions. At the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica, we have been engaging with children and young visitors for several years, and we were especially pleased to host several guided tours of the “We Are Here” exhibition again this year during Children’s Week.
Children’s Week is also an opportunity for society to show how important it is to value and respect children’s rights. Through various activities such as cultural visits and creative encounters, children learn values such as friendship, cooperation, respect, and tolerance. These values are the foundation for understanding, mutual support, and caring for others – and they are values we actively promote at our school.
