2025 is not only a special year for Nova Gorica, but also for its University, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Under the umbrella of the University of Nova Gorica (UNG), the School of Arts has also been operating for fifteen years, though its independent beginnings date back three decades as well.
The School of Arts at UNG is increasingly successful in the international arena, while also engaging with the local cultural scene in various ways. Through its annual and semester exhibitions, it opens its doors widely to the public. It collaborates with the Pixxelpoint festival and organizes a yearly selection of student films and animations at the local Cultural Centre.
This autumn, for the first time, the school presents a broader selection of recent student works—including photography, installations, and animated film scenography—in the main gallery of its hometown.
Entitled We Are Here, the exhibition explores the concerns of the young generation in today’s world, while also addressing the fact that, after many relocations, the School has put down roots for the future right here, in the twin city of Nova Gorica, Gorizia, and the surrounding area.
