INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

In film, framing and lighting create mood and visual focus. Conscious preparation and staging are key to conveying the film’s message, creating ambience, depth and emotion.

A workshop for light, lighting and camera in film will take place in three modules, and is intended for final year students and young film professionals. In the first part (November), the participants will focus on the analysis and practice of the use of light, in the second part (January) they will discuss the framing and use of the camera, in both parts there will also be exercises and practical demonstrations with equipment. In the last part (February), students will record their own assignment (probably in groups).  

Module 1: LIGHT  (21 November 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM; 22 November 1:15 PM – 5:00 PM)  
Module 2: FRAMING, CAMERA (8 January 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM; 10 January 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM)
Module 3: ASSIGNMENT
 (introduction: 27 January 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
Followed by the independent work of the participants in pairs. It concludes with a general review of the material in February.
