About the Animacikel Project
Animacikel is an international animation workshop for students, followed by a public screening of animated works. Its unique feature is the projection of animations onto urban surfaces using bicycles. It was first held in 2017 in Banja Luka and later in Zagreb at the international Animafest festival, as part of the European Capital of Culture 2020 in Rijeka, and in Jagodina during Animator Fest. The Nova Gorica edition is linked to the project Nova Gorica/Gorizia – European Capital of Culture 2025, organized within the GO!STUDIO (SPF) project.
About the Public Event – Screening/Performance
The workshop will culminate in a public event scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2025, after 19:45 (at sunset). Starting from the School of Arts at the University of Nova Gorica, we will take to the urban environment to share the created animations in an innovative way. The animations will be projected from a (moving) vehicle onto facades, streets, and trees in the city. A group of cyclists and pedestrians will accompany the vehicle with the projector, making brief stops at certain points, and concluding at the Bevkov square.
The entire event will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The public is invited to join – on foot, by bicycle, scooter, etc.
The event will start at the Academy of Arts UNG in Rožna Dolina at 7:30 PM. At 8:15 PM, we will continue through the Kostanjevica tunnel and finish with a longer screening in the center of Nova Gorica, at Bevkov Square, at 9:15 PM.
Participants of Animacikel are kindly requested to follow these instructions:
- Do not overtake the quadricycle with projectors
- Follow traffic regulations
- Dismount from the bike at the projection points
Pedestrians can walk alongside the cyclists, as the procession will move slowly, or they can wait at the designated points where they will watch the film projections together.
