Stop Motion Animation Workshop with Juan Pablo Zaramella

Explore how embracing limitations can open up creative possibilities in storytelling and stop motion.

Stop motion animation director Juan Pablo Zaramella invites participants into his creative process, sharing both narrative and technical approaches to bring stories to life. Centered on the theme ‘Borderless,’ the workshop explores how limitations—whether material, technical, or narrative—can become triggers to new ways of thinking and making. Participants will experiment with stop motion techniques, where independent hands-on approaches, inventive solutions and diverse methods are encouraged.

Mentor Presentation: Juan Pablo Zaramella
Juan Pablo Zaramella is a director, animator, and illustrator with a strong passion for creativity and ideas. He has directed over 10 short films and 2 TV series, becoming a reference in the world of animation. In 2010, the Annecy Festival presented a special program featuring a selection of his works. His film Luminaris received 324 awards, was listed in the Guinness World Records, and was nominated for an Oscar. In 2016, he created the series The Smallest Man in the World. His most recent short film is Passenger. He is currently developing the feature film I Am Nina (Coda) and a new short film Anamorfia (2026).
