On Friday, 17 October 2025, as part of the Days of Animated Film in Gorica, the Slovenian Animated Film Association (DSAF) presented its annual student awards.
A professional jury composed of Maja Zupanc, Lea Vučko, and Leo Černic awarded two main prizes – for the best completed student animated film and for the best student animated project in development. We are proud to announce that both awards went to our students, Melita Sandrin and Karin Likar.
DSAF Award for Completed Student Animated Film 2025
Melita Sandrin – Arahnofobija
The jury praised the film for the creator’s remarkable ability to transform a moment of everyday life into a true nightmare. Despite minimal mise-en-scène, the director sensitively and precisely portrays the characters and their emotions through original and witty expressions, which gain further depth in a highly effective strata-cut dream sequence.

Karin Likar – Coffee, Cigarettes and Sweat
The director demonstrates an authentic love for animation in all its forms. Her stories are genuine and sincere. The jury believes that this film will undoubtedly provide an opportunity to explore the medium further and to continue developing her unique artistic voice.
Following the official award ceremony, the audience had the opportunity to watch the awarded films and experience the originality and creativity of emerging animators.
We extend our sincere congratulations to Melita Sandrin and Karin Likar for this outstanding achievement and for their contribution to contemporary Slovenian animation. We are proud to have them as part of our academic community.
