The joyful news that our student Melita Sandrin received a Vesna award for the Best Student Film complements our pride and happiness that our academy alumna Urška Djukić won the Vesna for Best Feature Film at this year’s 28th Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož for her film Kaj ti je deklica. The film impressed the jury with its thoughtful interplay of performance, sound, and cinematography, as well as its distinctive cinematic language, creating a unique aesthetic experience.

In addition to the main award, the film received five more Vesna awards: for Best Leading Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Sound, confirming its outstanding quality and overall excellence. Moreover, the film was also awarded the FIPRESCI Jury Prize by the Association of Slovenian Film Critics.

The jury, which awarded the main prize, highlighted in their statement that Kaj ti je deklica, “from an empathetic perspective, opens a space for the organic coexistence of humor and seriousness, love and contempt, hope and fear, while convincingly unfolding the complexity of adolescence and universal themes of friendship, love, sexuality, solidarity, and betrayal.”

Sincere congratulations to Urška Djukić and the film team for this remarkable achievement and their significant contribution to Slovenian cinematic art!
