Aljaž Lavrič is a young photographer from Koper, Slovenia. During his studies at the UNG Academy of Arts, he dabbled with animation and film, but prefers to express himself through photography. For the practical part of his diploma, he made a photo book entitled “Whatever Floats Your Boat”. The latter explores the coast and the idea of freedom through the metaphor of boats on dry land.
A year later, on an Erasmus exchange in Brussels at the LUCA School of Arts, he compiled another photo book called “Nothing To Write Home About” – this one shows Brussels as nothing but a transitory city.
The study itself gave him both a theoretical and practical basis for being an artist in development and a love for the medium itself. Even today, he continues to research photography and photo books, planning new projects with his keen eye.
