The Guest
SYNOPSIS
Marta is a cleaning lady who lives alone in her late sister’s apartment. She has no friends or family. One evening, on her way from work, she finds a barely conscious woman in front of her apartment building. She takes her to her apartment, fixes her up and takes care of her. Marta’s guest doesn’t speak and appears to be mentally handicapped. She spends the next few days in Marta’s apartment, showing no intention to leave. Marta doesn’t mind – she enjoys having company for the first time in a while.
The Guest soon gets too comfortable. She begins to claim Marta’s belongings and ignoring her wishes and dissents. It turns out the Guest is not as unsound as she first seemed. She soon prevails over her host, subdues her and ends up driving her out of her own home. The guest becomes the host and the host becomes the guest.
