Our students have been playing an important role in shaping the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož for many years, not only as visitors but also as active participants, presenting their own films and animations in the competition and non-competition programmes. We are proud that their work is gaining recognition at the national level, as the festival continues to open doors to the professional world of filmmaking.
This year, as many as 13 projects by our students have been selected for the festival’s 29th edition. Four films are included in the competition programme: Mačkin pogreb (The Cat’s Funeral), NLP sekcija 1 (UFO Section 1), Ribolov (Gone Fishing) and Rorschachove packe (Rorschach Inkblots). A further nine films will be screened in the non-competition programme: Profiteroli (Profiteroles), Lišaja (Lichenlike), Zakaj ustvarjam umetnost? (Why I Make Art?), Vse in nič (Everything and Nothing), Pater, Aylan, 11. september (September 11), Strigoj (Strigoi) and Bolniška (Sick Leave).
The festival also traditionally hosts a student gathering bringing together students from all three academies: the Academy of Arts, the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT), and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO). The event provides an opportunity for students to get to know one another, build new friendships, and develop ideas for future film and animation projects. This year, our Academy is organising the gathering, which will take place on Thursday, 15 October, at 5 pm.
